Montag, 10. Juli
Um 7:30 Uhr klingelt der Wecker. Ich rasiere mich, Wasche meine Sandalen und dusche.
Dann bereite ich meine Sachen für den Tag vor.
Gegen 9 gehe ich hoch auf die Dachterrasse. Auch heute morgen regnet es.
Ich frühstücke Masalla Omelette mit Cheese Sandwich.
Ab 9:20 Uhr schreibe ich Tagebuch. Jetzt wird der Regen heftiger. Aber unter dem Dach sitze ich trocken. Kurz nach 10 ist mein Tagebuch wieder aktuell. Ich erstelle den Fotobericht von gestern.
Um 10:30 Uhr gehe ich wieder runter. Es regnet immer noch in Strömen.
Später sitze ich mit Kaffee in der Hotelrezeption. Allmählich lässt der Regen etwas nach.
Pünktlich um 11:30 Uhr werde ich abgeholt. Jetzt regnet es nur noch ganz leicht.
Erstmal fahren wir zu einem Teestand. Trinken Tee und essen einen Snack.
Etwa um 12 startet die Stadtrundfahrt. Es regnet immer mal wieder.
Durch den Starkregen der letzten Stunden stehen einige Straßen unter Wasser.
Die Kanalisation kann das Wasser gar nicht so schnell aufnehmen. Zumal sie ja auch marode und durch Müll verstopft ist.
Für mich ist das Wasser auf den Straßen interessanter als die Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Da der Eintritt in die meisten Gebäude und Museen Geld kostet, fahren wir daran nur vorbei.
Jaipur wird wegen der einheitlich rosaroten Farbe der Gebäude im Altstadtviertel „Pink City“ („rosa Stadt“) genannt. In der Altstadt bekomme ich die Gelegenheit auf das Flachdach eines der Gebäude zu gehen. Um Fotos zu machen. Hier auf den Dächern leben sehr viele Affen.
Als Andenken an Jaipur kaufe ich sehr günstig (für 250 Rupies) ein Armband.
Am Ende werde ich noch in ein Schuh- und Textilgeschäft geführt. Ich mache aber nur ein paar Fotos. Und sage ganz klar, dass ich kein Interesse und keinen Bedarf an den angebotenen Dingen habe. Gegen 14 Uhr ist die Stadtrundfahrt bei einem Imbiss beendet. Ich bezahle vergünstigt 1000 Rupies.
Wir sitzen dann noch beim Imbiss zusammen.
Ab etwa 15 Uhr bin ich wieder im Hotel.
Später gehe ich nochmal in die Stadt. Esse in einem Restaurant wieder Panier mit Gemüse.
Den Rest des Tages verbringe ich überwiegend in meinem Hostel Bett. Ich ruhe mich aus. Bin bei Facebook und chatte mit Freunden.
Abends gehe ich ein Restaurant in der Nähe. Esse Panier und Salat.
Später sichere ich noch die Fotos von heute.
Ab 0:30 Uhr schlafe ich.
Monday, 10 July
At 7:30 the alarm clock rings. I shave, wash my sandals and shower.
Then I prepare my things for the day.
Around 9 I go up to the roof terrace. It is raining this morning too.
I have breakfast Masalla Omelette with Cheese Sandwich.
From 9:20am I write my diary. Now the rain becomes heavier. But under the roof I sit dry. Shortly after 10am my diary is up to date again. I compile the photo report from yesterday.
At 10:30 I go down again. It is still raining cats and dogs.
Later I sit with coffee in the hotel reception. Gradually the rain lets up a bit.
I am picked up punctually at 11:30. Now it is only raining lightly.
First we drive to a tea stall. Drink tea and eat a snack.
At about 12, the city tour starts. It rains from time to time.
Due to the heavy rain of the last few hours, some streets are under water.
The sewage system cannot absorb the water so quickly. Especially as they are also dilapidated and clogged with rubbish.
For me, the water on the streets is more interesting than the sights.
Since entry to most buildings and museums costs money, we just drive past them.
Jaipur is called "Pink City" because of the uniform pink colour of the buildings in the old quarter. In the old city I get the opportunity to go on the flat roof of one of the buildings. To take photos. There are a lot of monkeys living on the roofs here.
As a souvenir of Jaipur I buy a bracelet very cheaply (for 250 Rupees).
At the end I am taken to a shoe and textile shop. But I only take a few photos. And say quite clearly that I have no interest and no need for the things on offer. Around 2 pm, the city tour ends at a snack bar. I pay 1000 rupees at a reduced rate.
We then sit together at the snack bar.
From about 15h I am back at the hotel.
Later I go into town again. Eat panier with vegetables in a restaurant again.
I spend most of the rest of the day in my hostel bed. I rest. I am on Facebook and chat with friends.
In the evening I go to a restaurant nearby. Eat paneer and salad.
Later I save the photos from today.
From 0:30 I sleep.
