Gegen 7:50 Uhr wache ich auf. Ich bleibe im Bett. Bin erstmal mit Handy bei Facebook. Beantworte Nachrichten. Dann aktualisiere ich mein Tagebuch. Und meinen Blog. Dann bekomme ich eine SMS. Ich soll Guthaben auf meiner Simkarte aufladen. Also suche ich über Google den nächsten Geocell Shop. Er ist nur 2 km entfernt.
Gegen 9:30 Uhr gehe ich duschen. Das es heute kein warmes Wasser gibt, stört mich nicht. Ich dusche ja sowieso kalt. Außerdem rasiere ich mich gründlich.
Das Frühstück lasse ich heute ausfallen. Ich hab keine Milch mehr.
Packe dann meine Sachen zusammen. Und belade das Fahrrad.
Um12 verabschiede ich mich. Und verlasse das Retro Hostel. Ich fahr mit Google Maps zu dem Geocell Shop. Die Navigation klappt erstaunlich gut. Allerdings dauert es eine Weile bis ich das kleine Handy Geschäft finde. Es ist zwar bei Google als Geocell Shop gelistet. Aber Guthaben einzahlen ist hier nicht möglich. Die Frau kann mir nicht helfen. (Sie versteht mich nicht) Ich bin zunächst ratlos.
Dann frage ich einen Mann an der Straße, wo ich meine Simkarte aufladen kann. Er kann etwas englisch. Und erklärt mir, dass das an jedem der vielen Serviceautomaten geht, die hier in der Stadt überall stehen. Wir gehen zu einem der Automaten. Ich kann die Schrift nicht lesen. Er hilft mir. Mann gibt die Handy Nummer ein. Ich weiß die nicht…., aber rufe ihn an. Er liest sie von seinem Handy ab. Dann wird angezeigt, dass ich 6,50 GEL einzahlen soll. Entweder bar oder per Karte. Meine Karte funktioniert an diesem Automaten nicht. Der akzeptiert nur georgische Karten. Also zahle ich bar. Damit habe ich wieder für 5 Tage Internet. Monatsweise ist mit der Touristenkarte nicht möglich. Aber das ist Ok. Dafür brauchte ich mich ja nicht registrieren)
Mittlerweile ist es 12:45 Uhr.
Ich hab Hunger. In der Nähe ist ein Restaurant. Es gibt eine englische Speisekarte. Der Kellner empfiehlt mir BBC Chicken. Also bestelle ich es. Es ist recht günstig. Als das Essen dann kommt bin ich enttäuscht. Es ist nur Fleisch. Mit einer Sauce. Und es ist eine Mini Portion. Die Sauce schmeckt nicht. Also esse ich nacktes Fleisch. Danach hab ich immer noch Hunger… Aber der Tee mit Zitrone ist gut. Während ich die Kanne Tee trinke, telefoniere ich mit Freunden in Deutschland. Tanja sagt mir, dass heute CSD in Hannover ist. Da wär ich jetzt auch gerne. Aber ich bin ja in Georgien. Man kann nicht alles haben.
Etwa um 14:20 Uhr fahre ich weiter. Da mein Bargeld knapp wird suche ich jetzt einen Geldautomaten. Es dauert eine Weile bis ich einen finde. Ich hebe 200 Lari ab.
Dann komme ich zu einem großen Einkaufszentrum. Hier ist ein Schnellrestaurant.
Ich hab ja immer noch Hunger. Bestelle mir eine Pizza und einen Burger. Die Pizza ist gut. Und sehr groß. Ich schaffe nicht alles. Den Rest (und auch den Burger) nehme ich mit. Dann gehe ich in das Einkaufszentrum. Der Supermarkt ist groß, modern und mit einem breitem Sortiment. Vergleichbar mit großen Supermärkten in Deutschland. Die Regale sind voll mit bekannten Markenprodukten. Ich kaufe aber nur 10Ü% Saft, Milch und Cashew Nüsse. Am Ausgang sehe ich, dass es sogar Selbstscan – Kassen gibt. Ich nehme aber die normale Kasse.
Dann kaufe ich bei einem kleinen Shop eine georgische Flagge.
Um 16:10 Uhr fahre ich weiter. Jetzt Stadtauswärts in Richtung Poti.
Ich komme am Bahnhof von Batumi vorbei. Kurz darauf werde ich von 2 Männern angesprochen, die ebenfalls mit Fahrrad unterwegs sind. Es ergibt sich ein nettes Gespräch.
Um etwa 17:15 Uhr verlasse ich Batumi.
Ich fahre auf der Küstenstraße in Richtung Poti. Nach einer Weile geht es leicht bergauf. Und es fängt ganz leicht an zu regnen. Dann komme ich durch einen Tunnel. Danach geht es wieder bergab.
Dann verfahre ich mich. Komoot führt mich im Kreis. Es dauert eine Weile, bis ich wieder auf der richtigen Route bin. Jetzt wird der Regen stärker. In einer Bushaltestelle stelle ich mich unter. Als der Regen etwas nachlässt, fahre ich weiter. Es bleibt aber regnerisch. Als beginne ich mir einen Platz zum Zelten zu suchen. Ich finde auch gleich eine Wiese neben der Straße. Allerdings ist der Noden sehr weich und feucht. Und an einer Stelle war wohl mal ein Zaun. Stacheldraht liegt auf dem Boden. Ich hätte beinahe das Fahrrad reingeschoben! Da hätten die Pannenschutzreifen auch nichts genutzt. Gut, dass es noch hell ist, und ich es rechtzeitig gesehen habe.
Also hier hat Zelten keinen Zweck. Ich fahre ein Stück weiter.
Kurz darauf finde ich in der Nähe der Straße eine geeignete Stelle zum zelten.
Im leichten Nieselregen baue ich das Zelt auf.
Ab 20 Uhr liege ich darin.
Ich bin im Netz und bei Facebook. Esse die restliche kalte Pizza und den Burger.
Dann schreibe ich Tagebuch. Um 22:10 Uhr fängt es wieder an zu regnen. Dann gewittert es.
Aber ich liege ja trocken im Zelt.
Um 23:20 Uhr ist mein Tagebuch wieder aktuell. Ich mache das Tablet aus. Trinke noch meine Zitrone. Als ich dann das Innenzelt zu machen will, funktioniert der Reißverschluss mal wieder nicht. Ich lasse das Innenzelt sofort. Werde mich morgen darum kümmern.
Aber der Reißverschluss geht immer mehr kaputt. Ich werde bald ein neues Zelt brauchen.
Ab etwa Mitternacht schlafe ich.

I wake up around 7:50am. I stay in bed. First I am on Facebook with my mobile phone. Answer messages. Then I update my diary. And my blog. Then I get a text message. I'm supposed to top up the credit on my SIM card. So I search Google for the nearest Geocell shop. It is only 2 km away.
Around 9:30 I take a shower. I don't mind that there is no hot water today. I take a cold shower anyway. I also shave thoroughly.
I skip breakfast today. I'm out of milk.
Then I pack up my things. And load the bike.
At 12 I say goodbye. And leave the Retro Hostel. I drive with Google Maps to the Geocell shop. The navigation works amazingly well. However, it takes a while until I find the small mobile phone shop. It is listed on Google as a Geocell shop. But it is not possible to pay in credit here. The woman can't help me. (She doesn't understand me) I am at a loss at first.
Then I ask a man on the street where I can top up my SIM card. He knows some English. And explains to me that it can be done at any of the many service machines that are everywhere in the city. We go to one of the machines. I can't read the writing. He helps me. He enters the mobile phone number. I don't know the...., but call him. He reads it off his mobile. Then it tells me to pay in 6.50 GEL. Either in cash or by card. My card doesn't work at this machine. It only accepts Georgian cards. So I pay cash. This gives me Internet access for 5 days. Monthly payments are not possible with the tourist card. But that's OK. I didn't have to register for that)
In the meantime it is 12:45.
I am hungry. There is a restaurant nearby. There is an English menu. The waiter recommends BBC Chicken. So I order it. It is quite cheap. When the food arrives I am disappointed. It's just meat. With a sauce. And it's a mini portion. The sauce doesn't taste good. So I eat naked meat. Afterwards I'm still hungry... But the tea with lemon is good. While I drink the pot of tea, I talk on the phone with friends in Germany. Tanja tells me that there is a CSD in Hanover today. I would like to be there too. But I'm in Georgia. You can't have everything.
At around 2:20 pm I continue my journey. As I'm running low on cash, I look for an ATM. It takes a while until I find one. I withdraw 200 Lari.
Then I come to a big shopping centre. There is a fast food restaurant here.
I am still hungry. I order a pizza and a burger. The pizza is good. And very big. I can't eat it all. I take the rest (and also the burger) with me. Then I go to the shopping centre. The supermarket is big, modern and has a wide range of products. Comparable to large supermarkets in Germany. The shelves are full of well-known brand products. But I only buy 10Ü% juice, milk and cashew nuts. At the exit, I see that there are even self-scanning checkouts. But I take the normal checkout.
Then I buy a Georgian flag at a small shop.
At 16:10 I continue my journey. Now out of town in the direction of Poti.
I pass the Batumi railway station. Shortly afterwards I am approached by two men who are also cycling. A nice conversation ensues.
At about 17:15 I leave Batumi.
I cycle on the coastal road in the direction of Poti. After a while the road goes slightly uphill. And it starts to rain very lightly. Then I pass through a tunnel. Then it goes downhill again.
Then I get lost. Komoot leads me in circles. It takes me a while to get back on the right route. Now the rain is getting heavier. I find shelter at a bus stop. When the rain lets up a bit, I continue. But it remains rainy. So I start looking for a place to camp. I find a meadow next to the road. However, the ground is very soft and damp. And at one point there must have been a fence. Barbed wire lies on the ground. I almost pushed the bike into it! The puncture protection tyres wouldn't have helped. It's good that it's still light and I saw it in time.
So there's no point camping here. I cycle a little further.
Shortly afterwards I find a suitable place to camp near the road.
In the light drizzle I pitch the tent.
From 8 pm I lie in it.
I am on the net and on Facebook. I eat the rest of the cold pizza and the burger.
Then I write in my diary. At 10:10 pm it starts raining again. Then it thunders.
But I lie dry in the tent.
At 11:20 pm my diary is up to date again. I turn off the tablet. I drink my lemon. When I try to close the inner tent, the zip doesn't work again. I leave the inner tent immediately. I'll take care of it tomorrow.
But the zip is breaking down more and more. I will need a new tent soon.
From about midnight I sleep.
