Irgendwann drehe ich mich um.
Mit dem Kopf zum Eingang.
Mach das Innenzelt halb auf. So, dass Luft herein kommt.
Es bringt nur bedingt etwas.
Erst als ich dann das Außenzelt auch aufmache, wird es etwas besser.
Allerdings kommen jetzt Insekten ins Zelt.
Aber das ist dann so.
Irgendwann schlafe ich ein.
Wache aber immer wieder auf.
Um 6:20 Uhr klingelt der Wecker.
Ich wasche mich kurz.
Um 7 fange ich an zu arbeiten.
Ich entferne weiter den Bewuchs am Zaun.
Um 8:30 Uhr bringt Iswar mir Frühstück.
Es ist ein ganz normaler Arbeitstag auf der Farm.
Von etwa 12:15 Uhr bis 16 Uhr ist Mittagspause.
Auch das Mittagessen bringt Ishwar mir.
Nachmittags entferne ich den Wildwuchs vom Hügel unterhalb vom Hof.
Etwa um 19 Uhr mache ich Feierabend.
Ich gehe zu Fuß zum Wohnhaus. Dort gibt es Dinner.
Dann gehe ich wieder zurück zur Farm.
Ich dusche und schrubbe meine Sandalen.
Heute Nacht schlafe ich draußen auf dem Bett unter dem Mango-Baum.
Das ist toll!
Hier ist es deutlich kühler als im Zelt.
Und hier sind nicht so viele Mücken.
Denke ich zumindest…
Harry hat Ferien.
Er hilft seinem Vater jeden Tag auf der Farm.
In Deutschland wäre das für einen 12 jährigen unvorstellbar.
Der Tag war geldfrei.
Wednesday, 12 June
At some point I turn round.
Head towards the entrance.
Open the inner tent halfway. So that air can get in.
It only helps to a limited extent.
Only when I open the outer tent does it get a little better.
However, insects are now getting into the tent.
But that's the way it is.
At some point I fall asleep.
But I keep waking up.
The alarm clock rings at 6.20am.
I have a quick wash.
I start work at 7.
I continue to remove the vegetation from the fence.
Iswar brings me breakfast at 8.30am.
It's a normal working day on the farm.
From about 12.15 pm to 4 pm is lunch break.
Ishwar also brings me lunch.
In the afternoon, I remove the wild growth from the hill below the farm.
I finish work at about 7 pm.
I walk to the house. I have dinner there.
Then I go back to the farm.
I take a shower and scrub my sandals.
Tonight I sleep outside on the bed under the mango tree.
That's great!
It's much cooler here than in the tent.
And there aren't so many mosquitoes here.
At least I think so...
Harry is on holiday.
He helps his father on the farm every day.
In Germany, that would be unimaginable for a 12-year-old.
The day was free of money.
Donnerstag, 13. Juni
Unter freiem Himmel schlafe ich sehr gut!
Allerdings nerven mich die Mücken.
Um 6:20 Uhr klingelt der Wecker.
Es ist herrlich, in der Natur aufzuwachen!
Ich wasche mich kurz.
Und weiche meine Wäsche ein.
Ab 7 arbeite ich. Zunächst entferne ich wieder Wildwuchs am Zaun.
Um 8:30 Uhr bringt Ishwar mir Frühstück. Es gibt Curry Reis.
Später zeigt Ishwar mir, wie er Ableger von Zitronenbäumen zieht.
Und zwar direkt am Ast.
Dazu wählt er passende Äste. Entfernt an der Stelle, an der sich später Wurzeln bilden sollen mit einer Rasierklinge die Rinde. Er trägt ein vorbereitetes Pflanzgranulat aus zerstoßenen Abfällen von Kokosnüssen mit Wasser auf. Und umwickelt die Stelle luftdicht mit Folie.
So werden sich in den nächsten 2 Monaten Wurzeln bilden.
Dann kann er den Ableger abschneiden und direkt einpflanzen.
Für mich ist diese Möglichkeit Bäume zu züchten sehr interessant.
Etwa um 12 ist Mittagspause.
Erstmal wasche ich meine Wäsche.
Um 13:30 Uhr bringt Iswar mir Mittagessen. Heute gibt es Gemüseeintopf. Außerdem trinke ich meine Zitrone.
Nach dem Essen ruhe ich mich aus.
Ab 16 Uhr arbeite ich weiter.
Jetzt wieder auf der anderen Seite im Schatten.
Wir verbrennen die Grünabfälle und Äste direkt.
Etwa um 19 Uhr mache ich Feierabend.
Ich gehe zu Fuß zum Wohnhaus. Dort gibt es Dinner.
Dann gehe ich wieder zurück zur Farm.
Ich dusche und schrubbe meine Sandalen.
Den Rest des Abends verbringe ich auf dem Bett.
Ich creme mich gründlich mit Mückenschutz ein. Trotzdem zerstechen mich die Mücken!
Ich chatte mit Freunden. Und ich spiele so wie jeden Tag online Schach mit Rochelle.
Irgendwann schlafe ich ein.
Der Tag war geldfrei.
Thursday, 13 June
I sleep very well in the open air!
However, the mosquitoes annoy me.
The alarm goes off at 6.20am.
It's marvellous to wake up in nature!
I have a quick wash.
And soak my washing.
I start work at 7. I start by clearing the wild growth from the fence again.
At 8.30, Ishwar brings me breakfast. I have curry rice.
Later, Ishwar shows me how he grows lemon tree cuttings.
Directly on the branch.
He selects suitable branches. He removes the bark with a razor blade at the point where the roots are to form later. He applies a prepared planting granulate made from crushed coconut waste with water. And wraps the area airtight with foil.
This will allow roots to form over the next 2 months.
Then he can cut off the cuttings and plant them directly.
This way of growing trees is very interesting for me.
Lunch break is at about 12 noon.
First I do my washing.
At 13:30 Iswar brings me lunch. Today it's vegetable stew. I also drink my lemon.
After lunch I have a rest.
I get back to work at 4 pm.
Now back on the other side in the shade.
We burn the green waste and branches straight away.
I finish work at around 7 pm.
I walk to the apartment block. We have dinner there.
Then I go back to the farm.
I take a shower and scrub my sandals.
I spend the rest of the evening on the bed.
I thoroughly apply mosquito repellent. But the mosquitoes still bite me!
I chat with friends. And I play chess online with Rochelle, as I do every day.
At some point I fall asleep.
The day was money-free.
Freitag, 14. Juni
Heute Nacht schlafe ich wieder sehr gut unter dem Mangobaum.
Allerdings nerven die Mücken!
Es sind doch viel mehr als ich anfangs dachte.
Deshalb werde ich ab der nächsten Nacht wieder im Zelt schlafen.
Um 6:10 Uhr klingelt der Wecker.
Ich gehe mich kurz waschen.
Und räume meine Sachen auf.
Dann schreibe ich schnell noch ein bisschen an meinem Tagebuch.
Um 7 fange ich an zu arbeiten.
Heute entferne ich den ganzen Tag Wildwuchs am Zaun.
Um 8:30 Uhr bringt Iswar mir Frühstück.
Ab 12 ist Mittagspause.
Heute gibt es schon eher Mittagessen.
Meiner Zitrone trinke ich heute mit Mango. Dazu presse ich eine weiche Mango mit ins Glas.
Den Kern bekommt eine der Kühe.
Es ist toll, dass die Kuh in mir direkt aus der Hand frisst!
Dann ruhe ich mich aus.
Ab 15:20 Uhr schreibe ich Tagebuch.
Breche das aber bald wieder ab.
Beantworte noch kurz Nachrichten.
Um 16 Uhr arbeite ich weiter.
Etwa um 19 Uhr mache ich Feierabend.
Ich gehe zum Dinner zu Fuß zum Wohnhaus. Heute gibt es Gemüseeintopf.
Dazu Roti und Mango Pickle.
Dann gehe ich wieder zurück zur Farm.
Ich dusche und schrubbe meine Sandalen.
Da es sehr heiß im Zelt ist, nehme ich das Außenzelt ab.
So kommt etwas Luft ins Zelt.
Den Eingang kann ich nur kurz auflassen.
Sonst kommen zu viele Mücken und andere Tiere ins Zelt.
Es ist trotzdem unerträglich heiß!
Irgendwann schlafe ich ein.
Der Tag war geldfrei.
Friday, 14 June
Tonight I sleep very well again under the mango tree.
However, the mosquitoes are annoying!
There are a lot more of them than I initially thought.
That's why I'll be sleeping in the tent again from the next night.
The alarm clock rings at 6.10am.
I have a quick wash.
And tidy up my things.
Then I quickly write a bit more in my diary.
I start work at 7am.
Today I spend the whole day removing wild growth from the fence.
Iswar brings me breakfast at 8.30am.
It's lunch break from 12.
Lunch is earlier today.
I'm drinking my lemon with mango today. I squeeze a soft mango into the glass.
One of the cows gets the stone.
It's great that the cow eats straight from my hand!
Then I have a rest.
I start writing in my diary at 3.20 pm.
But I soon stop again.
Answer a few messages.
I continue working at 4 pm.
I finish work at around 7 pm.
I walk to the apartment block for dinner. Today we're having vegetable stew.
With roti and mango pickle.
Then I go back to the farm.
I take a shower and scrub my sandals.
As it's very hot in the tent, I take down the flysheet.
This lets some air into the tent.
I can only leave the entrance open for a short time.
Otherwise too many mosquitoes and other animals would get into the tent.
But it's still unbearably hot!
Eventually I fall asleep.
The day was free of money.
