Montag, 25. Oktober
Heute schlafe ich aus. Und wache erst um 9:40 Uhr auf. Ich bin alleine in der Wohnung. Erstmal koche ich mir Wasser für Kaffee und bereite mein Müsli vor. Um 10:20 Uhr ruft Hilal mich an. Wir telefonieren lange. Sie möchte mir helfen. Vermittelt Kontakte für mich. In Istanbul. Und auch an der Küste. Sie gibt mir Tipps für Orte, die ich hier in der Türkei noch besuchen kann. Nach diesem tollen Telefonat frühstücke ich. Dann dusche ich. Gegen 12:30 Uhr fange ich an, an meinem Tagebuch zu schreiben. Dann kommt Muhammad nach Hause. Wir besprechen die nächsten Tage. Ich werde noch bis Mittwoch hier bleiben. Ab 13 Uhr arbeite ich an meinem Tagebuch. Zunächst sichte und sortiere ich die vielen Fotos der letzten Tage. Die sind ja die Grundlage für die Aufarbeitung der einzelnen Tage. Zwischendurch trinke ich mit Muhammad eine heiße Zitrone. Abends kocht Muhammad für uns. Er macht ein syrisches Gericht. Mit Grünkohl, Hähnchen und Reis.
Es ist ein ruhiger Tag.
Eigentlich wollte ich den Abend in meinem Zimmer verbringen und Tagebuch schreiben. Aber es kommt anders.
Ab etwa 20:30 Uhr chatte ich mit Ceyda. Sie möchte heute Abend die bekannte Moschee Hagia Sophia besuchen. Spontan komme ich mit. Also mache ich mich kurz frisch. Um 21:50 Uhr geh in die Stadt. Wir treffen uns in der Nähe. Bis zur Hagia Sophia sind es etwa 7 km. Zunächst gehen wir zu Fuß. Im Fußball-Stadion Vodafone Park ist heute Abend ein Spiel. Als das zu Ende ist, strömen die Fans auf die Straßen. Der Verkehr ist chaotischer als ohnehin schon. Dieser Fußmarsch ist ein besonderes Erlebnis!
Zwischendurch zeigt Ceyda mir die Statuen im Park und einige der heiligen Grabmale von Istanbul. An diesen Orten kommen wir zur Ruhe. Da der Weg zur Hagia Sophia doch recht weit ist fahren wir später mit der Straßenbahn. Hier gilt auch Maskenpflicht. Aber niemand sagt etwas, dass ich ohne Maske bin.

Ich habe heute meinen, und unseren Weg durch das Stadtzentrum von Istanbul nicht aufgezeichnet. Geschätzt bin ich etwa 5 km durch die Stadt gelaufen.
Quiet during the day. Action in the evening - The nightly walk to Hagia Sophia
Monday, 25 October
Today I sleep in. And don't wake up until 9:40. I am alone in the flat. First I boil water for coffee and prepare my muesli. At 10:20 Hilal calls me. We talk on the phone for a long time. She wants to help me. She arranges contacts for me. In Istanbul. And also on the coast. She gives me tips for places I can still visit here in Turkey. After this great phone call, I have breakfast. Then I take a shower. Around 12:30 I start writing in my diary. Then Muhammad comes home. We discuss the next few days. I will stay here until Wednesday. From 1 pm I work on my diary. First, I sort through the many photos from the last few days. They are the basis for processing the individual days. In between, I drink a hot lemon with Muhammad. In the evening, Muhammad cooks for us. He makes a Syrian dish. With kale, chicken and rice.
It is a quiet day.
Actually, I wanted to spend the evening in my room and write my diary. But it turns out differently.
From about 20:30 I chat with Ceyda. She wants to visit the famous mosque Hagia Sophia tonight. On the spur of the moment, I come along. So I freshen up briefly. At 21:50 I walk into town. We meet nearby. It is about 7 km to the Hagia Sophia. First we walk. There is a match at the Vodafone Park football stadium tonight. When it is over, the fans pour into the streets. The traffic is more chaotic than it already is. This walk is a special experience!
In between, Ceyda shows me the statues in the park and some of the holy tombs of Istanbul. At these places we come to rest. As the way to the Hagia Sophia is quite long, we later take the tram. Masks are also compulsory here. But nobody says anything about me being without a mask.

I didn't record my, and our, way through the city centre of Istanbul today. I estimate that I walked about 5 km through the city.
